Key Responsibilities
e-STORAGE is looking for an MV Commissioning & Electrical Safety Manager to lead a regional team of Senior Power Systems Technicians and oversee product-level commissioning across utility-scale battery energy storage projects in the Americas.
The role will support the safe commissioning, operation, and maintenance of SolBank systems, string inverters, MV Skids, and associated medium-voltage equipment. You will provide leadership around technician competency, MV switching and energization, isolation, grounding, LOTO, electrical safety procedures, and operational performance across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.
Directly manage a regional team of Senior Power Systems Technicians, including workload allocation, coaching, development, performance management, and technical support
Plan workforce and authorization coverage to ensure qualified personnel are available to support commissioning, preventive maintenance, corrective maintenance, and operational requirements
Assess technician competency for MV/HV and product commissioning work and provide recommendations regarding training, qualification, and authorization
Establish and monitor team performance indicators related to safety compliance, commissioning throughput, and maintenance turnaround
Act as the escalation point for technical, operational, and electrical safety matters raised by field technicians
Oversee product-level commissioning of SolBank systems, string inverters, MV Skids, and associated electrical equipment
Develop, implement, and improve product commissioning procedures, testing practices, documentation, and sign-off requirements
Support equipment testing, startup, troubleshooting, energization, and turnover activities
Coordinate with site commissioning teams, which retain responsibility for the broader commissioning programme, grid compliance and testing, and client handover
Oversee MV switching activities, typically up to 34.5kV, where e-STORAGE holds or has been delegated control-of-work responsibility
Support safe isolation, grounding, LOTO, energization, de-energization, and switching practices
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, and local utility requirements
Ability to travel to project sites across the Americas as required, particularly during commissioning, energization, switching activities, and major operational milestones
Requirements
Extensive experience with medium-voltage electrical systems, typically up to 34.5kV, within utility-scale infrastructure, renewable energy, BESS, substations, power generation, or comparable environments
Demonstrated experience performing, supervising, or authorizing MV switching activities, including isolation, grounding, LOTO, energization, and safe work planning
Experience in commissioning and operational, maintenance, or field-service environments
Experience leading electrical technicians, commissioning personnel, field-service teams, or other technically qualified personnel
Strong understanding of North American electrical safety codes and standards, including CSA, NEC, IEEE, NFPA, OSHA, and local utility requirements
Experience supporting commissioning, energization, operations, maintenance, or field service activities for complex electrical systems
Experience developing or implementing electrical safety procedures, switching procedures, permits, risk assessments, method statements, or operating standards
Degree, diploma, trade qualification, or equivalent practical experience in electrical engineering, power systems, electrical technology, or a related field
