Job Description
A Structural Engineer conducts field evaluations of industrial structures, analyzes data, develops models and calculations, and designs rehabilitation or replacement plans, supporting structural assessments and ensuring quality control in construction projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct field evaluations of industrial structures
- Develop calculations and analytical models for steel and concrete
- Design rehabilitation or replacement plans for structures
- Specify materials and write technical reports
- Provide technical support and quality control during structural construction
Requirements
- Support field evaluation of existing industrial structures and conduct field evaluations of industrial structures.
- Develop calculations and analytical models in steel and concrete.
- Design rehabilitation and or replacement plans for structures.
- Specify materials, write reports, and provide technical support for structural construction and quality control.
- Possess a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Structural Engineering.
- Have between 0 to 3 years of experience in the field.
- Hold or be eligible for an Engineer-in-Training (E.I.T.) license.
- Familiarity with modelling software such as STAAD required.
- Knowledge of ACI 318, AISC, ASCE-7, and IBC required.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD preferred.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under licensed P.E. and S.E. supervision to progress towards professional licensure.
- Ability to develop greater expertise in calculations and analytical models for concrete and steel.
- Ability to support and adhere to client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments.
- Possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights.
- Be able to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
- Work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
- Work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing appropriate PPE such as hard hats, safety glasses, goggles, ear plugs, masks, respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and steel-toed work boots.
- Position oneself to work in confined spaces as required.
- Adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
- Meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
