Job Description

A Structural Designer assists engineers in evaluating industrial structures and creating detailed 2D and 3D BIM drawings, primarily using AutoCAD and related modeling software, while performing field measurements and evaluations to support structural repair and design projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field evaluations and measurements of existing structures to develop repair drawings
  • Develop detailed structural drawings of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
  • Lead in the development of design portions of evaluation reports
  • Review drawings produced by others
  • Drive the development of business applications for emerging technologies

Requirements

  • Possess a 2-year technical degree.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in the relevant field.
  • Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and BIM 3D Modelling.
  • Experience with CADWorx, S3D, E3D, etc.
  • Exposure to Bluebeam and Advanced Steel is preferred.
  • Microsoft Office experience is required.
  • REVIT experience is required.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on any field assignment.
  • Must possess physical mobility on the ground and at heights.
  • Ability to pick up, lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection.
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing the appropriate PPE (hard hat, safety glasses goggles, earplugs, masks respirators, hi-vis safety vests, leather gloves, and leather, steel-toed work boots).
  • Must be able to position oneself to work in confined spaces.
  • Must be willing to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site.
  • Must meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site.
