A Structural Designer responsible for leading field evaluations of industrial structures, creating detailed BIM and AutoCAD drawings, and providing technical oversight for design projects involving steel, concrete, and other materials, while ensuring quality control and compliance with safety and client requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Lead field evaluations and measurements of structures to develop repair or replacement drawings
Design and draft complex structural drawings of steel, concrete, wood, and masonry
Develop design portions of evaluation reports
Perform quality control of drafting produced by others
Drive the development and implementation of new applications for existing and emerging technologies
Provide technical oversight and mentorship to less experienced drafters
Requirements
Possess a 2-year technical degree
Minimum of 8 years of experience in structural design or related field
Proficiency with 2D AutoCAD and BIM 3D Modelling software
Experience with CADWorx, S3D, E3D, etc.
Exposure to Bluebeam and Advanced Steel is preferred
Microsoft Office experience is required
REVIT experience is required
Basic mentoring skills for small team technical oversight
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to lead design and drafting teams in field evaluations
Proficiency in application of structural design codes for concrete, steel, and AWS
Ability to develop proficiency in Laser Scan Point cloud designing
Must meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments
Physical mobility on the ground and at heights
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs.
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and occasionally work off platforms or scaffolding using appropriate fall protection
Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE
Ability to position oneself in confined spaces
Must adhere to client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
Must meet client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
