The Sr. Instrumentation Engineer is responsible for designing and managing process instrumentation solutions, including control valves and automation systems, while leading projects, evaluating technical requirements, and mentoring junior engineers in a client-focused environment.
Key Responsibilities
Review client requirements and standards for process instrumentation
Develop detailed instrumentation designs, specifications, and sizing solutions
Lead selection and sizing of process instrumentation and interface with vendors
Manage instrumentation projects and lead client technical meetings and presentations
Provide technical support during field execution and outage turnaround projects
Mentor and manage junior and intermediate instrumentation engineers
Develop and manage instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
Conduct field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
Requirements
BSc in Instrument, Mechanical, Electrical or Chemical Engineering
Minimum of 10 years of experience in instrumentation engineering
Must be experienced with DCS and PLC systems
Knowledge of ISA, API, and ASME instrumentation standards
Knowledge of SPI and instrument vendors sizing software
Experience in preparing instrumentation proposals based on client RFQs and standards
Experience leading instrument projects and managing client technical meetings and presentations
Experience developing and managing instrumentation design solutions and deliverables
Experience leading selection and sizing of process instrumentation and interfacing with instrument vendors
Experience leading field and technical evaluations of instrumentation projects
Experience providing technical support for field execution, including outage turnaround projects
P.E. licensure is required
Strong organizational, written, and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to mentor intermediate and junior instrument engineers
Ability to develop instrument group standards and work processes
Ability to develop instrument group deliverables and technologies
Ability to perform field evaluations, RCFA, and modeling calculations
Ability to develop training and mentoring platforms for internal team growth
Must meet all client-specific site requirements prior to deployment on field assignments
Physical mobility on the ground and at heights
Ability to lift, carry, and move up to 50 lbs
Ability to work at heights, climb ladders and stairways, and work off platforms or scaffolding using fall protection
Ability to work in all weather conditions including heat, rain, cold, and wind while wearing PPE
Ability to position oneself to work in confined spaces
Willingness to adhere to a client’s random drug testing program prior to entering their site
Willingness to meet a client’s facial hair safety policy prior to entering their site
