Job Description

This position involves managing accounting and payroll functions, including financial statement preparation, tax compliance, and overseeing certified payroll for projects, within a supportive energy efficiency company focused on clean energy solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Review and prepare financial statements, month-end reconciliations, and adjusting journal entries
  • Manage weekly payroll for employees, ensuring compliance with wage and tax laws
  • Oversee certified payroll for public works and prevailing wage projects, including submission of reports
  • Conduct fringe benefit audits and reconcile fringe allocations and contributions
  • Maintain accurate job descriptions, wage determinations, and employee setup for projects
  • Interface with project managers and subcontractors to gather and review payroll and timecard submissions
  • Monitor compliance of subcontractors with prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements
  • Assist with internal controls, process improvements, and financial compliance activities
  • Prepare payroll-related reports, month-end accruals, and reconciliations

Requirements

  • 3 to 5 years of recent experience in Accounting and Payroll.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, certified payroll, tax laws, and financial statement preparation.
  • Experience with certified payroll, including overseeing weekly payroll for field employees, managing certified payroll for public works and prevailing wage projects, and submitting WH-347 and jurisdiction-specific reports.
  • Ability to conduct regular fringe benefit audits and reconciliation to ensure proper tracking of fringe allocations and contributions.
  • Experience maintaining and monitoring accurate job descriptions, wage determinations, and employee setup for each project.
  • Ability to interface with project managers, field teams, and subcontractors to gather, review, and ensure timely submission of timecards and payroll documents.
  • Experience maintaining and organizing certified payroll records for audit readiness and internal compliance reviews.
  • Ability to prepare and analyze reports related to field payroll costs, fringe utilization, and project labor trends.
  • Experience preparing month-end accruals and reconciliation related to payroll, fringe, and labor burden.
  • Ability to monitor changes in wage determinations, fringe benefit thresholds, and regulatory requirements to keep internal systems up to date.
  • Evaluate and monitor compliance of subcontractors with prevailing wage and certified payroll requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software such as TriNet, Sage Intacct, and Procore (preferred).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple team relationships and meet deadlines.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively in a dynamic team environment.

Base annual salary range of $110,000 to $125,000
