Job Description
This position involves assembling and installing solar photovoltaic systems at various sites, managing a small installation crew, ensuring safety and quality standards, and performing mechanical construction tasks related to solar projects across the United States.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and install solar photovoltaic systems following scheduled work plans and manuals
- Manage and supervise a solar installation crew of 2-4 members, delegating tasks and conducting safety meetings
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and materials for installation tasks
- Perform troubleshooting, system diagnostics, and safety risk assessments
- Conduct daily site inspections to ensure compliance with installation procedures and safety standards
- Coordinate material staging and manage daily production goals
- Communicate progress, issues, and safety concerns to the mechanical foreman
- Operate and verify the safety of equipment used on-site when authorized
- Maintain a safe work environment by following safety policies, practicing safe lifting, and wearing PPE
Requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- Must have a valid driver license.
- Experience with Solar construction projects required.
- Experience using various types of tools and equipment required.
- Experience operating skid steers, telehandlers, lull, forklift, GRT s, PD10 s preferred.
- Must be able to travel 100% of the time to multiple site locations across the country.
- Heavy Work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and or up to 50 pounds of force frequently, and or up to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
- Must be able to work outside and be exposed to extreme cold, heat, inclement weather, and noise.
- Must be able to operate various hand-held tools, power tools, and pneumatic tools.
- Must have the endurance necessary to perform duties throughout an 8 or 10-hour workday according to the schedule.
- Must be dependable and consistent, always on time and ready to work at the start of each shift.
- Must always wear personnel protective equipment, including hard hats, safety glasses, safety harnesses, ear protection, fire retardant clothing, and respirators when required.
- Ability to perform physical tasks involving Heavy Work exerting up to 100 pounds of force occasionally, 50 pounds frequently, and 20 pounds constantly.
- Ability to stand, walk, use hands and fingers to handle, feel, lift, and grab, reach with hands and arms, push and pull, climb and balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, and crawl.
- Ability to see clearly, hear, and communicate effectively.
- Follow all safety policies and procedures, including conducting daily safety meetings and filling out Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
- Use necessary tools and equipment to assemble and construct solar photovoltaic systems following scheduled work plans and install manuals.
- Ensure all tools used are in proper working condition and are returned after each shift.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose system issues, damage, and safety risks.
- Complete daily inspections of job site areas and report issues observed.
- Responsible for material staging for daily tasks.
- Conduct daily reporting and status updates to mechanical foreman at the end of each shift.
- Work in a production environment with daily production goals that are set, evaluated, and optimized.
- Work safely around energized parts and equipment.
- Demonstrate safe lifting skills.
- Support a safety culture with 100% engagement with the field team and practice core company values throughout projects.
