Job Description

The Field Engineer at Blue Ridge Power will manage construction projects by applying engineering techniques, problem-solving, and overseeing project documentation while collaborating with subcontractors and clients. This role requires extensive travel and involves ensuring project quality and adherence to safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide overall project management site support during construction
  • Handle documentation contracts, submittals, field books, daily reports, and safety logs
  • Assist in creating and supporting the administration and execution of quality plans for the project
  • Serve as a point of contact for direct hire and subcontract workers to problem-solve options and resolve issues
  • Assess problems and recommend resolutions based on analysis and experience
  • Manage the submittal and Request for Information (RFI) processes for specific discipline scopes of work
  • Coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers for specific work packages to ensure correct information regarding materials and logistics
  • Identify and provide recommendations regarding barriers to successful building progress
  • Evaluate project design and engineering documents for conflicts and sequencing
  • Audit, purchase, and procure materials, ensuring inventory quality and delivery
  • Support all inspections, including final inspections and punch list processes
  • Build relationships with diverse backgrounds and organizational levels

Requirements

  • 1 year of experience in construction.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, construction engineering, engineering, or other science or mathematical-related degree, or equivalent combination of education and technical field experience demonstrated over multiple years of related work experience.
  • Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license required.
  • Must possess reliable transportation.
  • Ability to independently apply basic principles and fundamental theories of construction management or construction engineering.
  • Ability to independently interpret a variety of technical instructions and documents (e.g., blueprints, design documents).
  • Basic knowledge of project management principles such as scheduling and estimating.
  • Basic to Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Procore, and the Internet.
  • Ability to learn and utilize different types of computer software used in Construction Management for managing any aspect of a construction project.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to build relationships and transfer information between different levels of workers.
  • Active listening skills and effective communication, including an openness to diverse input and feedback.
  • Ability to multitask, possessing a strong work ethic, a high degree of detail orientation, and an extreme sense of urgency.
  • Must comply with all company safety standards and procedures, including OSHA requirements.
  • Individuals in this position work in an outdoor environment and must be able to tolerate all climates.
  • Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours daily.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
  • 100% travel required for project-based assignments.
