Job Description
The Commissioning Engineer at Blue Ridge Power will manage project commissioning activities for utility-scale solar projects, ensuring compliance with contract requirements and safety standards while leading site inspections and coordinating with project teams.
Responsibilities
- •Develop and maintain an overall project commissioning plan.
- •Perform required inspections on utility PV systems.
- •Lead the interface between the project site team and the Commissioning team.
- •Participate in pre-commissioning meetings and all commissioning activities.
- •Review the site-specific commissioning tracker before commissioning activities.
- •Lead site walks and manage the Job Book Table of Contents.
- •Coordinate craft and equipment support for commissioning activities.
- •Verify all applicable equipment is LOTO'd before energization.
- •Review and track test report submittals before energization.
- •Conduct audits of project commissioning documentation for accuracy.
- •Assist in training project personnel for field verification during commissioning.
- •Ensure commissioning and documentation are completed per contract requirements.
- •Communicate and implement Blue Ridge Power's Commissioning Procedures.
- •Develop project lessons learned items at project completion.
- •Assist in preparing commissioning reports by collecting and analyzing data.
Requirements
- •4 years of commissioning experience in utility-scale solar projects.
- •A clear understanding of OSHA safe workplace practices and procedures.
- •Intermediate to advanced Racking and Tracker commissioning, operation, troubleshooting, manufacturer training, and/or certification.
- •Intermediate to advanced Inverter commissioning, operation, communications, troubleshooting, manufacturer training, and/or certification.
- •Intermediate to advanced SCADA DAS systems, communication systems, operations, programming, manufacturer training, and/or certification.
- •Good knowledge of MV Transformers and other Renewable Energy Balance of Systems (BOS).
- •Advanced Construction, structural, electrical single-line and three-line drawings markups and red lines, RFIs.
- •Good knowledge of Utility and Interconnection Substation and POI Equipment.
- •Proficient in MS Office Suite software programs.
- •Bachelor's degree or global equivalent in Electrical Engineering or a related field of study is required.
- •Must possess and maintain a current valid driver's license.
- •OSHA 30 or 100 is required.
- •Must be able to comply with all company safety standards and procedures including OSHA requirements.
- •Must be able to tolerate all climates while working outdoors.
- •Must be able to sit, stoop, kneel, bend, stand, or walk short to long distances for 8-10 hours daily.
- •Must be able to lift, push, or pull up to 50 pounds occasionally.
