Job Description
The Lead Facilities Engineer is responsible for overseeing the maintenance, operation, and optimization of all facilities systems and equipment, managing a team to ensure compliance with regulations and improve operational efficiency while focusing on sustainability initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a team of engineers, technicians, and contractors.
- Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of building systems.
- Develop and implement preventive maintenance programs.
- Plan, coordinate, and execute facility upgrades and construction projects.
- Monitor and optimize energy usage for sustainability.
- Ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Collaborate with vendors and service providers for contract management.
- Manage the facilities budget and track expenses.
- Lead emergency preparedness and response efforts.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and provide reports to management.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Facilities Management, or a related field.
- 7 years of experience in facilities engineering or management, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.
- Certification in Facilities Management (CFM), LEED, or related credentials.
- Strong leadership and team management skills.
- Proficient in building management systems (BMS), HVAC, and electrical systems.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills for interacting with staff, contractors, and management.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and compliance standards (e.g., OSHA, EPA).
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Availability for on-call responsibilities in case of facility emergencies.
- Physical ability to inspect systems and facilities, including climbing ladders or working in confined spaces as needed.
