Prepare a design plan set and specifications, including but not limited to, grading, drainage, and foundations for the installation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems to be used for application submission for Utility, Building Department/AHJ review and permitting and ultimately Construction.
Work closely with other Mechanical and Electrical engineers within team to optimize designs, develop and maintain design standards and template specifications, and perform engineering design tasks and calculations.
Evaluate existing site conditions based on record drawings, surveys, field notes and photos, and other related information provided by others to incorporate Bloom Energy installation improvements for commercial land development projects and prepare design project schedule, budget, deliverables, etc. as needed.
Think outside the box to find innovative solutions to reduce product and installation costs without negative impacts on quality and reliability.
Manage external partners and consultants through the design and construction process.
Manage multiple fast-paced projects simultaneously while foreseeing and managing internal Project Manager’s expectation regarding project-specific deliverables and schedule variables.
Evaluate civil engineering, structural engineering, and construction documents for quality control and accuracy.
Ensure resulting civil and structural drawings and documents meet all Building and Construction code requirements and conforms to internal specifications required for the implementation of Bloom Energy fuel cell systems.
Understanding of structural calculations and their influence on site designs, as related to equipment foundations, parcel grading, and building interior conduit routing.
Participate in project meetings to provide status updates on design deliverables and present design plan sets to customers, internal cross-functional teams, and others as needed.
Coordinate with drafting team to incorporate civil, mechanical, and structural details into the Construction Documents.
Coordinate with other team members and Project Manager to create detailed Scope of Work documents for construction RFPs, respond to pre-bid RFI’s, and value engineer designs for improvements to cost estimates and schedules.
Provide Construction Administration support by responding to construction submittals and RFIs.
Travel for site assessments, internal design meetings, and interfacing with authorities having jurisdiction. Anticipated travel is approximately 10%.
Flexibility to work at different time zones (Primarily US time zone)
Requirements
BE (Civil) / Diploma (Civil) with proven record of designing electrical projects
3+ years (10+ years experience for Diploma) of site-civil engineering experience, including site development, grading, paving, storm water, and utility design.
Construction and/or facility maintenance experience is a plus.
Experience in the energy sector is preferred, as the Installation Design Civil Engineer must have experience working broader design disciplines – electrical, mechanical, electro-chemical - to create construction drawings. An understanding of electrical equipment (e.g. diesel generators, UPS systems, transfer switches) and other relevant components.
