The role involves leading the development and management of geothermal drilling operations, establishing scalable processes, overseeing project execution, ensuring safety and quality standards, and collaborating with engineering teams to deliver large-scale geothermal heating and cooling projects in urban environments.
Key Responsibilities
Establish scalable processes, organizational systems, and partnerships for geothermal project delivery
Build and lead a high-performance drilling organization ensuring safety, regulatory compliance, and quality
Develop capabilities and playbooks for procurement, maintenance, licensing, mobilization, and deployment of field equipment
Design, test, and implement processes for operational efficiency and scalability
Oversee project P&Ls, costs, permitting, and geothermal system commissioning
Collaborate with engineering teams to deploy and refine geothermal technologies and tools
Record and analyze operational data to identify inefficiencies and solutions
Define new KPIs, resource hypotheses, investment priorities, and risk management strategies
Manage client relationships and ensure a seamless customer experience
Coordinate with vendors to supply necessary equipment and resources for field teams
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Economics, Business, or related discipline; a graduate degree in similar disciplines or in management-related fields is a plus.
10 years of demonstrated experience leading a high-performance team in drilling operations.
Experience as a project owner, including P L oversight and client relationships.
Demonstrated experience initiating and communicating new processes based on evolving information and on-the-ground experience.
Outstanding communication skills, particularly articulating industry jargon and technical topics to cross-functional laypersons.
Strong project management and problem-solving skills, especially in changing environments with contending priorities and complex stakeholders.
Ability to create a positive work environment for Field team members and Engineering collaborators.
Proficiency with project management software, collaboration tools, and Office Suite or similar.
Passion for the energy transition.
Ability to travel at 25% steady state, and 50% or more during ramp-up and project/org-building sprints.
