Job Description
The Sr. Manager, Cybersecurity leads the development and management of Avantus's enterprise cybersecurity program, ensuring protection of critical infrastructure, compliance with industry standards, incident response, and continuous improvement of security controls across cloud and operational systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and improve the IT cybersecurity solutions, controls, procedures, and policies to enhance the company's security posture.
- Respond to cybersecurity incidents, coordinate investigations, and escalate as necessary.
- Drive the implementation of cybersecurity solutions and system changes, managing projects from start to finish.
- Develop and maintain cybersecurity controls, standards, policies, and best practices to support scaling efforts.
- Oversee the development and maturity of security systems such as SIEM, vulnerability management, and incident response tools.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to execute cybersecurity projects and system rollouts.
- Stay informed on industry trends and emerging technologies relevant to cybersecurity.
- Mentor IT team members and provide cybersecurity guidance to stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with cybersecurity standards, frameworks, and risk management processes.
- Maintain and update cybersecurity documentation, training resources, and runbooks.
- Monitor security operations, analyze alerts, and coordinate incident triage and escalation.
- Participate in audits and validation of cybersecurity controls and remediation efforts.
- Manage cybersecurity vendor relationships, licensing, and service agreements.
- Support change management, business continuity, and documentation practices related to cybersecurity.
Requirements
- Ten years of experience in IT security roles, with at least five years specifically in cybersecurity leadership positions and managing IT Cybersecurity Operations for the enterprise.
- Proven experience developing and implementing enterprise security programs.
- Direct experience with NERC CIP Compliance standards and controls is a strong plus.
- Direct experience managing a program adhering to at least one leading industry-standard cybersecurity control framework, such as CIS, NIST, ISO, or other frameworks.
- Experience implementing, administering, and supporting enterprise cybersecurity cloud applications and infrastructure stacks.
- Explicit experience securing Microsoft and AWS cloud infrastructures.
- Skilled in incident response investigation analysis, cross-functional team triage, containment, recovery, post-incident review, and root-cause analysis.
- Strong understanding of security principles and dedication to best practices and continual improvement.
- Service-oriented, collaborative, and solution-driven mindset.
- Strong communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to self-organize while managing multiple projects to completion.
- Experience with standard principles and practices of project management, work planning, organization, and budget development.
- Cybersecurity certification such as CISSP, CISM, CCSP, or other equivalent certification is highly preferred.
- Experience supporting or implementing AI governance strategies for the enterprise is a strong plus.
