Job Description

The Manager of Policy Regulatory Affairs supports Avantus's policy advocacy and regulatory strategy by engaging with federal and state agencies, legislative bodies, and stakeholders to promote the deployment of utility-scale solar and storage projects, ensuring favorable policy and market conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and analyze policy, regulatory, and legislative trends impacting the business at federal and state levels.
  • Provide strategic insights on legislative and regulatory developments to senior leadership.
  • Act as a liaison with key decision makers to facilitate project approvals.
  • Build and maintain relationships with elected officials and develop strategic engagement plans.
  • Communicate and advocate company priorities to government officials and staff.
  • Coordinate government relations strategies with project development teams.
  • Manage trade association memberships and represent the company at industry events.
  • Serve as an internal resource on policy issues and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public policy, law, environmental studies, or related field.
  • 4 to 7 years of experience in energy policy, government affairs, regulatory engagement, or related field.
  • Familiarity with CAISO, WECC, and/or FERC processes and proceedings.
  • Demonstrated understanding of renewable energy markets, state and federal legislative processes, transmission, interconnection, and energy pricing.
  • Excellent communication and writing skills with the ability to explain complex regulatory issues to a variety of audiences.
  • Highly organized, analytical, and capable of managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Team-oriented with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to develop and maintain relationships with elected officials and key decision makers at the state and federal levels.
  • Experience in providing strategic insights to senior leadership regarding legislative and regulatory developments.
  • Experience in managing trade association memberships and representing organizations at trade association events, lobby days, conferences, and similar engagements.
  • Ability to coordinate government relations strategies with project development teams.
  • Ability to assist with local outreach to elected officials as needed.
  • Adaptability to change in a fast-moving and innovative environment.
