Job Description
The Cost Estimator will develop and manage cost estimates for large-scale renewable energy projects, including photovoltaic and battery energy storage systems, supporting project development, procurement, and bidding processes.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop conceptual estimates and pricing strategies for Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and photovoltaic (PV) projects.
- Collect, manage, and apply historical cost data to future projects.
- Review design specifications and EPC contract change orders to support project execution.
- Prepare and manage EPC pricing throughout pre-construction and construction phases.
- Analyze and review EPC estimates for accuracy and cost optimization.
Requirements
- U.S. Bachelor’s degree in Construction or Building Science, or Energy Systems Management
- At least 2 years of experience in overseeing the cost estimating of renewable energy sector projects, specifically large-scale PV and BESS projects
- Experience in running Levelized Cost of Energy (LCOE) models for commercial offtake
- Experience creating PV and BESS cost models
- Experience reviewing electrical and structural field engineering work for cost validation
- Experience proposing technical solutions for quality efficiencies
- Experience leading estimating efforts to prepare pricing inputs for Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) Request for Proposal (RFP) bids
- Ability to collect, manage, and apply historical costs from existing projects to future projects
- Ability to support the project execution team by providing design specification review support
- Ability to review Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) contract change order costs
- Ability to prepare and manage engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) pricing throughout pre-construction and construction phases
