Job Description
The Autonomous Vehicle Operations Specialist at Aurora will be responsible for safely piloting and copilot autonomous vehicles during on-road and closed course testing, providing real-time feedback to engineers, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to enhance vehicle operations and safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely pilot and copilot autonomous vehicles for on road and closed course testing
- Log real time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing
- Escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
- Collaborate cross-functionally with teams throughout Aurora
- Maintain up to date knowledge of self-driving technology and operational changes
- Work toward quantitative and qualitative goals impacting Vehicle Operations
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora
Requirements
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Keen attention to detail.
- Ability to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively.
- Consistent focus on safety.
- Ability to think critically.
- Willingness to learn every day.
- Ability to monitor cutting edge software on a laptop and type in a moving vehicle, for extended periods of time.
- Valid U.S. driver's license with at least 5 years of driving history and a clean driving record, validated by MVR check.
- Must pass initial and random drug and alcohol screenings.
- Ability to travel as needed, including up to 25% across or out-of-state travel per month.
- Available to work day or night shifts.
- Ability to work early mornings or late nights, on rotating shifts.
- Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends.
- 80% of shift time spent in vehicle as office.
