Job Description
The Aurora Driver will operate autonomous semi-trucks for testing and commercial operations, providing real-time feedback to engineers, monitoring vehicle performance, and ensuring safety while supporting the development of self-driving technology in a dynamic trucking environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Safely pilot autonomous semi trucks during on-road and closed course testing.
- Monitor the Aurora Driver and platform performance in real-time during testing.
- Log feedback on autonomy and platform performance for engineering analysis.
- Escalate operational issues with suggested solutions.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of self-driving technology and software changes.
- Work on cross-functional projects to demonstrate positive impact.
- Interact with the public as an ambassador for Aurora.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years of experience driving trucks commercially
- Valid U.S. Driver's License
- Interstate Class-A Commercial Driver's License
- Driving record must pass Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) guidelines
- Must be at least 21 years of age
- Must pass DOT physical and meet all DOT qualifications
- Must pass pre-employment, post-incident, and randomized drug testing in accordance with FMCSA requirements
- Ability to work available shifts including day, night, and weekends, with rotating shifts as needed
- Ability to work regular overtime and some weekends
- Availability to travel as needed up to 50%
- Must be able to spend up to 80% of shift time in the vehicle
- Work schedule includes shifts that may be day, night, or weekends, including second and third shifts
- Must demonstrate excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
- Must be able to prioritize and make strategic decisions proactively
- Must be able to remain alert and attentive while monitoring the Aurora Driver during extended stretches of autonomy
- Must be capable of logging real-time feedback regarding autonomy and platform performance during testing
- Must be able to escalate operational blockers with suggested solutions
- Must demonstrate positive impact at Aurora by working on cross-functional projects as time permits

Hourly wage range of $31.00 - $38.00 per hour
