Job Description

The role involves managing cross-functional hardware and vehicle programs throughout their lifecycle, coordinating efforts across engineering, manufacturing, legal, and operations teams to ensure successful integration and deployment of Aurora's self-driving technology.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and be accountable for complex hardware and vehicle programs throughout their full product lifecycle.
  • Coordinate cross-functional initiatives by consolidating input from various teams including engineering, manufacturing, legal, safety, and operations.
  • Define, communicate, and track key performance indicators for vehicle integration programs at different maturity stages.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate risks across multiple teams and program phases.
  • Understand technical architectures and propose alternatives to ensure successful technical implementation.
  • Remove obstacles and drive momentum by addressing communication gaps, schedule issues, and competing priorities.
  • Create reports and lead program meetings to communicate progress and issues to stakeholders.
  • Proactively schedule discussions with cross-functional partners to resolve roadblocks and improve processes.

Requirements

  • Experience in program management and operations of highly technical initiatives.
  • Ability to break complex projects down to manageable milestones and deliver them in a successful and timely manner.
  • Strong ability to communicate verbal and written succinctly and effectively to various global audiences at all levels, from line engineers to partners to C-level executives.
  • Master collaborator with impeccable attention to detail and organization, ability to influence, motivate, and generate goodwill with teammates while juggling multiple projects at once.
  • Experience building project plans and roadmaps with clear dependency management.
  • Demonstrated direct impact through the design, development, and launch of exceptional products and programs.
  • Solid technical aptitude and an ability to understand technical designs, challenges, and risks, with the ability to work closely with engineers.
  • Ability to manage and be accountable for complex hardware and vehicle programs through full product lifecycle at a large scale.
  • Experience soliciting, aggregating, and tracking product and technical requirements for integrated vehicles to ensure alignment with high level company roadmap and customer satisfaction.
  • Ability to define, communicate, and track key performance indicators for integration programs at various stages of maturity across multiple functions and departments.
  • Ability to identify, catalog, and report on risks to integration programs across multiple teams, and manage burndown of these risks through the program lifecycle.
  • Ability to understand technical implementation at the architectural level and propose alternatives when necessary.
  • Ability to proactively remove obstacles, identify gaps in communication or schedule, and provide support to teams balancing competing priorities to drive results.
  • Experience creating weekly reports and running programmatic meetings with appropriate level of detail for the respective audience.
  • Proactive scheduling of meetings or discussions with cross-functional partners to address roadblocks.
  • Ability to suggest and implement process improvements to integration programs.
  • Ability to work near an Aurora office, preferably in Mountain View, CA or Pittsburgh, PA, with the ability to travel.
  • Experience in the management of cross-functional programs involving hardware, software, manufacturing, legal and regulatory compliance, safety and security, business development, finance, supply chain, and operations.
  • Educational or professional background that supports technical and program management expertise (implied, as experience is required).
