Job Description
The Senior Software Engineer will design, develop, and maintain scalable data management systems for autonomous vehicle sensor data, working across onboard and cloud platforms to improve data workflows, reliability, and performance within Aurora's self-driving technology ecosystem.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and implement scalable on-vehicle offload cloud data systems for multimodal sensor logs and datasets.
- Improve reliability, performance, throughput, latency, and discoverability of offline data workflows.
- Build internal tooling, libraries, and operational patterns to evolve and scale data pipelines.
- Own key data services end-to-end, including design, implementation, rollout, monitoring, and incident response.
- Collaborate with stakeholders across onboard systems, autonomy, ML, and infrastructure to deliver solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science or a related field
- Minimum of 3-5 years of related experience in software engineering
- Proficiency in programming with GoLang and Python
- General knowledge of backend software systems including networking, load balancing, API gateways, system security, and gRPC services
- Experience with AWS infrastructure, including S3 and DynamoDB, in a production commercial system
- Knowledge of database design, database management, and database scalability
- Ability to design and implement systems that efficiently work for both physical offloaders and cloud environments, scaling to hundreds of PB of multimodal data sensor logs, simulation data, ML datasets, and vehicle logs
- Experience owning key services end-to-end, including design, implementation, rollout, on-call operations, observability, and incident response
- Partnering with stakeholders across onboard systems, autonomy, ML, and infrastructure to deliver pragmatic solutions

Base salary range: 162,000 - 260,000 per year
