Job Description

The Senior Manager, People Programs at Aurora is responsible for leading and managing the program management team within the People Organization, driving strategic initiatives, operational excellence, and change management to support the company's growth and talent development efforts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Program Management team to execute strategic initiatives within the People Organization.
  • Manage the portfolio of People Team programs, prioritizing initiatives and ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
  • Translate business problems into program plans, managing timelines and ensuring successful execution.
  • Standardize work methodologies, tools, and reporting processes to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Serve as a primary contact for senior leadership on People initiatives, providing strategic updates and narratives.
  • Oversee change management and communication strategies for People Program implementations.
  • Partner with cross-functional leaders (e.g., IT, Finance, Legal) to align stakeholders and ensure cohesive program delivery.
  • Remove blockers, streamline processes, and measure the effectiveness of People Programs to increase team impact.

Requirements

  • Typically 8-10 years of experience in program management, with at least 3 years specifically managing a team of Program Managers in a high-growth tech environment or top-tier consulting firm.
  • Proven leadership experience in leading and developing a team of high-performing Program Managers, including setting performance standards, coaching, and fostering a culture of high agency and accountability.
  • Ability to manage a portfolio of People Team programs, including prioritizing initiatives, determining resource allocation, and ensuring strategic alignment with organizational goals.
  • Experience translating business problems and concepts into thoughtful solutions and program plans, including managing timelines and ensuring successful completion of initiatives.
  • Ability to define methodologies, tools, and reporting cadences to standardize work processes and enable operational excellence within the People Team.
  • Experience serving as a point of contact for senior leadership regarding People initiatives, synthesizing work into strategic narratives and business reviews.
  • Experience overseeing change management and communications for People Program changes across the company, ensuring sustainable and intentional change pace.
  • Ability to strategically partner with cross-functional leaders in IT, Finance, Legal, and other departments to align stakeholders and People Programs across functions.
  • Demonstrated ability to remove blockers, streamline processes, and measure the effectiveness and efficiency of People Programs to increase team and organizational effectiveness.
  • Deep comfort with HR analytics and systems such as Workday and Greenhouse, and using data to defend team priorities and measure program ROI.
  • Strong strategic thinking skills, with the ability to see the big picture and connect initiatives across the talent lifecycle, including culture, compensation, and recruiting.
  • Mastery of ambiguity, with the ability to build structures that resolve chaos and support organizational needs.
  • Excellent data-driven decision-making skills, with experience using HR analytics and systems to inform priorities and measure success.
  • A coach mindset focused on talent development, team resilience, and successful delivery, with the ability to identify and stretch talent within the team.
