Job Description
The Manager, Enterprise Facility Safety is responsible for developing and leading safety programs across Aurora's facilities, ensuring compliance, risk reduction, and operational readiness through strategic planning, team management, and regulatory adherence.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute enterprise-level Facility Safety strategies and programs.
- Manage and improve safety policies, metrics, and compliance across all facilities.
- Oversee the Terminal Safety Program and Site Safety Leads Program, including resourcing and execution.
- Lead and manage a team of EHS Specialists, Terminal Safety staff, and Site Safety Leads.
- Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, DOT, and local safety and environmental regulations.
- Conduct incident investigations and implement corrective actions.
- Design and implement risk management programs for specialized environments.
- Develop and oversee budgets, vendor relationships, and resource allocation for safety programs.
- Collaborate with Workplace, Security, and Operations teams on emergency response and business continuity plans.
- Define, track, and report on safety KPIs related to compliance, cost, and risk reduction.
- Analyze safety risks associated with product plans and operational environments.
- Promote a safety culture of ownership and accountability throughout the organization.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Industrial Engineering, or related field.
- 7 years of progressive experience in EHS or facility safety management across multiple sites.
- Demonstrated success leading teams and implementing safety programs for high-risk environments such as test sites, manufacturing, and logistics terminals.
- Strong knowledge of OSHA, EPA, DOT, and related federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
- Exceptional collaboration skills to partner cross-functionally and represent the safety function in internal and external forums.
- Ability to travel as needed, up to 30% of the time.
- Ability to work in dynamic field environments, including light physical tasks such as lifting up to 10 lbs, and support field-level investigations.
- Experience managing safety programs across a multi-site, distributed physical footprint (desirable).
- Experience with rapidly scaling operational environments (desirable).
- Professional certifications such as CSP, CIH, CHMM, or equivalent (desirable).
- Experience in logistics, manufacturing, or R&D environments (desirable).
- Familiarity with safety management systems such as Samsara, Jira, Fleetio (desirable).
- Experience managing contractor or third-party site safety programs (desirable).
