Job Description
The Director of Electrical Engineering at Aurora is responsible for leading the design and development of complex electrical hardware for self-driving technology, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver innovative products while managing a team of electrical engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a team of electrical engineers within the Hardware Product Engineering team
- Oversee custom electrical design and development of computers, LiDAR, and peripheral modules
- Provide vision, strategy, and roadmap for electrical engineering products
- Collaborate with architecture, hardware, software, and platform partner teams
- Drive decisions on tooling, best practices, and processes for electrical engineering products
- Lead collaborative efforts with internal teams and external companies for technology development
- Develop architectural block diagrams to meet technology trends and product requirements
- Identify and resolve conflicts and program issues through proactive risk management
- Represent the hardware design function in leadership reviews and meetings
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree with a focus in electrical or computer engineering.
- 12 years experience in industry developing complex electrical hardware.
- 8 years direct personnel leadership of electrical engineering teams including hiring, establishing best practices, managing performance and growth.
- Expertise with the full hardware product lifecycle including architecture, development, validation, and market introduction.
- Responsible for designing and shipping electronics products at scale.
- Strong technical background and broad experience, spanning several disciplines within the electrical domain.

Base salary range: $235,000 - $376,000 per year
