Job Description
The Survey Crew Chief leads field survey operations for large boundary and renewable energy projects, ensuring data accuracy and overseeing technical tasks such as setting control, staking, and performing various surveys, while mentoring team members and maintaining high standards of precision.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations on large boundary and renewable energy sites, including setting control, staking, and ensuring data accuracy.
- Operate and maintain Trimble survey equipment such as total stations, GPS, and data collectors.
- Perform boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
- Verify and refine field calculations to ensure precision.
- Maintain detailed and organized field notes for project documentation.
- Work independently or with team members to complete survey tasks.
- Mentor and train less experienced surveyors.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience working as a Survey Crew Chief
- Strong understanding of large boundary surveys and the ins and outs of energy project work
- Confidence working with Trimble equipment and Trimble Business Center
- Solid communication skills to keep the team in sync
- Ability to read and interpret engineering plans and survey data like a roadmap
- Willingness to travel occasionally for bigger projects and the occasional adventure
