Job Description
The Survey Crew Chief leads field surveying operations for land development projects, utilizing advanced equipment to perform boundary, topographic, and construction surveys, ensuring accuracy and safety while guiding team members and coordinating with contractors and engineers.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead field operations for boundary, topographic, construction layout, and as-built surveys.
- Operate survey equipment such as Trimble total stations, GPS, and data collectors to capture data.
- Establish and locate vertical and horizontal control points with precision.
- Record detailed field notes and prepare accurate as-built documentation.
- Maintain survey equipment and company vehicles professionally.
- Guide team members through survey layout and setup tasks.
- Solve on-site challenges and interpret plans for project execution.
- Ensure compliance with safety protocols and quality standards on all projects.
Requirements
- Ten years of experience as a Survey Crew Chief.
- Proven expertise in performing construction staking, ALTA NSPS Land Title, topographic, boundary, and as-built surveys.
- Experience operating Trimble total stations, GPS, and data collectors preferred.
- Strong communication skills with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders.
- A proactive approach to solving problems and getting work done right.
- Willingness to travel overnight occasionally preferred.
