Job Description

The job involves performing various survey activities such as leveling, traversing, and mapping, using Trimble survey equipment. The role requires effective communication with team members and contractors, along with maintaining equipment and preparing accurate field notes.

Responsibilities

  • Commute to and from sites daily in a company-provided truck.
  • Perform survey activities including leveling, traversing, and topographic mapping.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment.
  • Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
  • Review survey field calculations and adjust as needed.
  • Locate or establish vertical and horizontal control.
  • Utilize Trimble equipment to measure utility points.
  • Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
  • Maintain work-issued vehicles, laptops, and survey equipment.
  • Follow Atwell's safety protocols.
  • Read and interpret engineering plans.
  • Assist with crew member training and professional development.

Requirements

  • 10 years of experience in a Survey Crew Chief role.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with contractors, inspectors, and team leaders.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering plans.
  • Follow Atwell's safety protocols.
  • Responsible for maintaining work-issued vehicles, laptops, and survey equipment.
  • Perform survey activities such as leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, construction layout, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, and profile and cross-section surveys.
  • Set up, adjust, and operate Trimble survey equipment including total station, data collector, and GPS equipment.
  • Measure distances, angles, and elevations for staking purposes.
  • Review survey field calculations and adjust when needed.
  • Locate or establish vertical and horizontal control.
  • Utilize Trimble equipment to measure all utility points including curb and gutter, water sewer, storm drain, and paving.
  • Prepare accurate field notes and complete as-built drawings.
