Job Description
The Senior Lead Electrical Engineer at Atwell, LLC is responsible for managing electrical design projects in the energy sector, providing technical expertise, coordinating with teams and clients, and ensuring project deliverables meet specifications across oil, gas, and renewable energy facilities.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise project teams on electrical engineering assignments for energy projects.
- Provide technical guidance and develop design changes based on client requests.
- Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and project teams to ensure project requirements are met.
- Manage external engineering firms, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure high-quality project delivery.
- Review and comment on design submittals, ensuring compliance with project specifications and standards.
- Identify and address project risks, issues, and impacts related to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Manage engineering activities from feasibility to detailed design stages for pipeline and facility projects.
- Assist in procurement processes, including running RFPs and managing subcontractor relationships.
- Stay updated on industry technologies, standards, and regulatory conditions relevant to energy projects.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Petroleum, or a related field is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is highly preferred.
- Experience in managing engineering activities related to design for major Oil & Gas energy projects, including pipelines and facilities, throughout the US.
- Proficiency in providing engineering technical input into projects at various stages from feasibility and preliminary to detailed design.
- Ability to coordinate engineering design efforts with EPC or external consultants and review and comment on design submittals in coordination with Atwell subject matter experts.
- Experience in managing and ensuring all project deliverables meet project specifications.
- Experience in managing external engineering firms, subcontractors, and various engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, and structural.
- Ability to identify and address critical risks, issues, and impacts of the project, specifically regarding the application of and adherence to corporate health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Experience reviewing and monitoring contractors' progress and progress relating to key project milestones.
- Ability to coordinate internally with Development, Engineering, Permitting, GIS, and Land groups.
- Experience assisting procurement in running RFPs and managing the process to subcontractors.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
- Excellent communication skills to serve as a liaison between clients and project team members, and to communicate with regulatory agencies and the public as needed.
- Supervisory skills to supervise, advise, and assist assigned project team members and foster teamwork within project teams and other teams within the firm.
- Ability to establish personal networks and participate in professional societies and trade associations.
- Ability to work closely with other Energy teams within Atwell to share expertise and resources.
- Knowledge of industry standards, safety standards, vendor qualifications, and relevant standards development, with an emphasis on staying up to date on new technologies and regulatory conditions.
