Job Description
Atwell is seeking a licensed Civil/Structural Engineer (PE) with experience supporting structural design and engineering for the Oil and Gas industry.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the civil and structural engineering design for oil and gas infrastructure projects, including pipelines, pump stations, compressor stations, terminals, and process facilities
- Develop construction documents, including structural plans, general arrangements, framing plans, and connection details for steel and concrete structures
- Support the design and coordination of ductwork systems within oil and gas facilities, including duct routing, equipment interfaces, structural supports, and coordination with piping, mechanical, and electrical disciplines
- Conduct structural analysis under various loading conditions including wind, seismic, blast, and equipment loads in accordance with applicable codes (IBC, ASCE, AISC, ACI, API, etc.)
- Review and approve engineering calculations, drawings, and reports prepared by internal teams and subcontractors
- Collaborate with multidiscipline teams including mechanical, piping, and electrical to coordinate structural requirements across project phases
- Perform field visits to verify as-built conditions, gather site data, and provide construction support as needed
- Provide mentorship to junior engineers and support team development through technical leadership
- Monitor project schedules, budgets, and resource allocations to ensure deliverables are met on time and within scope
- Support quality assurance by implementing Atwell’s QA/QC procedures and best practices
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering from an ABET-accredited institution (Master’s a plus)
- Professional Engineer (PE) license required
- 7+ years of experience in civil/structural engineering for oil and gas facilities or similar industrial infrastructure
- Proficient in structural analysis software such as STAAD.Pro, RISA, SAP2000, or similar
- Working knowledge of CAD software tools including AutoCAD, CADWorx, and Civil 3D
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Navisworks, or Tekla Structures is a plus
- Strong knowledge of applicable design codes: AISC, ACI, ASCE, API, IBC
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
- Pay Range - $100,000 - $150,000 base+, + end of year bonus.
