Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will design and support high-voltage power systems, substations, and renewable energy projects, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver integrated solutions and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Apply electrical engineering principles to design high-voltage systems, substations, and renewable energy projects.
  • Lead engineering tasks from project initiation to design package completion.
  • Collaborate with civil, structural, SCADA, and protection control engineers to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Prepare technical documentation including one-line diagrams, studies, specifications, reports, BOMs, and client deliverables.
  • Ensure designs comply with industry standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI.
  • Support project managers with estimating, proposal writing, and client communication.
  • Conduct interdisciplinary reviews and quality assurance/quality control across engineering teams.
  • Perform electrical studies such as short circuit, load flow, grounding, harmonics, and arc flash analyses using specialized software.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering ABET Accredited
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in electrical engineering with a focus in power systems, renewable energy, or substations
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Bluebeam, MS Office, and at least one power system analysis software such as ETAP, CYMCAP, PSS E, SKM, ASPEN, PSCAD, or EMTP
  • Ability to apply core electrical engineering principles to the design of high-voltage systems, substations, and utility-scale renewable energy projects
  • Experience leading engineering tasks from project kickoff through to design package completion
  • Experience preparing technical documentation including one-line diagrams, studies, specifications, reports, Bills of Materials (BOMs), proposals, and client-facing deliverables
  • Knowledge of industry standards such as NEC, NESC, IEEE, NFPA, and ANSI, and ability to ensure designs meet these standards
  • Ability to support project managers with estimating, proposal writing, and client communication
  • Experience conducting electrical studies such as short circuit, load flow, grounding, insulation coordination, harmonics, and arc flash analysis
  • Ability to develop relay settings and perform arc flash and coordination studies
  • Experience interfacing with SCADA RTAC systems and vendors for major equipment submittals
  • Ability to conduct battery sizing, voltage drop, and conduit fill calculations
  • Experience drafting interconnection studies and evaluating compliance with utility or ISO requirements
  • Willingness to occasionally travel less than 20% for field walkdowns, client meetings, or construction support
