Job Description
The Project Engineer at Atwell, LLC will lead engineering efforts for energy projects such as pipelines and facilities, providing technical guidance, managing design and project execution, and coordinating with clients and teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and supervise project teams on engineering assignments related to oil, natural gas, CO2, hydrogen, and RNG pipelines and facilities.
- Provide technical guidance and recommend design changes based on client requests.
- Coordinate with external engineering firms, subcontractors, and other disciplines to ensure high-quality project design and execution.
- Manage engineering activities from feasibility to detailed design stages, ensuring compliance with project specifications and industry standards.
- Review and comment on design submittals, monitor contractor progress, and ensure project milestones are met.
- Develop and refine electrical and instrumentation designs for natural gas transmission facilities.
- Serve as the main point of contact for project engineering activities and communicate with clients, regulatory agencies, and internal teams.
- Identify project risks, issues, and impacts, ensuring adherence to health, safety, and environmental requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Electrical, Mechanical, Petroleum, or a related field is required.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
- Experience as a Project Engineer with energy industry projects, including oil, natural gas, CO2, hydrogen, and RNG pipelines and facilities.
- Ability to develop and demonstrate proficiency in directing project teams on various assignments and providing technical guidance.
- Experience managing engineering activities related to design for major Oil & Gas Energy projects, including pipelines and facilities throughout the US.
- Ability to provide engineering technical input into projects at various stages from feasibility and preliminary to detailed design.
- Experience coordinating engineering design efforts with EPC or external consultants and reviewing and commenting on design submittals.
- Experience managing external engineering firms, subcontractors, and various engineering disciplines such as civil, mechanical, structural, electrical, and instrumentation.
- Ability to identify and manage project risks, issues, and impacts, ensuring adherence to corporate health, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Experience reviewing and monitoring contractors' progress and project milestones.
- Ability to coordinate internally with Development, Engineering, Permitting, GIS, and Land groups.
- Experience assisting procurement in running RFPs and managing subcontractor processes.
- Experience developing, reviewing, and refining electrical and instrumentation (E&I) designs for natural gas transmission facilities, ensuring compliance with technical specifications, safety standards, and industry regulations.
- Ability to collaborate with project teams to define requirements and produce basis of design documents and comprehensive E&I scope packages.
- Willingness to travel when necessary.
