Job Description

The role involves designing renewable energy site plans, preparing cost estimates and permit applications, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, and supporting project management and business development efforts in a civil engineering setting focused on solar and energy storage projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design renewable energy site plans using AutoCAD Civil 3D, focusing on ground-mounted solar arrays and battery energy storage systems (BESS).
  • Prepare engineer's opinion of probable cost and design calculations.
  • Maintain client relationships and prepare permit applications for municipal agencies.
  • Develop feasibility studies, master planning, and engineering designs for water, sanitary, storm sewer, paving, and detention facilities.
  • Assist in preparing engineering service proposals and review project specifications.
  • Contribute to the production of final construction drawings and mentor staff engineers.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects and manage project schedules and timelines.
  • Participate in business development activities and represent the firm at client and municipal meetings.
  • Prepare and monitor project budgets, billing, and accounts receivable.

Requirements

  • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.
  • Valid driver’s license is required.
  • A minimum of 3 years of experience in civil engineering or related field is required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university is required.
  • Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam is required.
  • Strong understanding of local governmental public and private development codes is required.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D is required.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office is required.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions is required.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables is required.
  • Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Physical ability to frequently sit and talk or hear, and occasionally stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl is required.
  • Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds is required.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Ability to work occasionally in outside weather conditions for extended periods is required.
