Job Description

A Mechanical Project Engineer PE supporting pipeline and facility projects in the oil, natural gas, CO₂, hydrogen, and RNG sectors, focusing on mechanical design, project execution, and coordination from concept through construction to ensure safe, compliant, and efficient solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support mechanical project teams on pipeline and facility projects.
  • Provide technical guidance and implement client-requested design changes.
  • Interface with clients, EPCs, vendors, and regulators to communicate scope, progress, risks, and design decisions.
  • Coordinate with civil, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and process teams to ensure integrated, constructible designs.
  • Develop and own mechanical deliverables such as basis-of-design, design criteria, equipment selections, P&IDs, PFDs, and specifications.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations for pressure design, code compliance, and overpressure protection.
  • Support facility layout, 3D model review, and resolve clashes for constructability.
  • Coordinate with structural and civil teams for foundation loads, pipe rack interfaces, and equipment anchorage.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required or ability to obtain promptly per state requirements.
  • Serve as the mechanical engineering lead or key contributor for pipeline and facility projects, including Meter regulator (MR) stations, valve sites, pig launcher receiver sites, compressor stations and station tie-ins, terminals, pump stations, and related facility upgrades and expansions.
  • Develop and own mechanical deliverables such as Mechanical basis-of-design, design criteria, and equipment system selections, including P&IDs, PFDs, line lists, and mechanical specifications in coordination with process.
  • Perform engineering calculations and technical evaluations, including pressure design and code compliance, relief device sizing, overpressure protection support and coordination, hydraulic line sizing, equipment sizing support, and operating case reviews.
  • Support facility layout and integration, including 3D model design review, clash resolution, and constructability support.
  • Coordinate with structural, civil, electrical, instrumentation, and process teams to ensure integrated, constructible designs, including foundation loads, pipe rack interfaces, and equipment anchorage.
  • Experience with piping design, facility mechanical systems, and field execution support.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, and exposure to 3D tools such as Plant 3D, CADWorx, AVEVA, or similar.
  • Consulting EPC experience and comfort working to owner-operator standards.
  • Experience supporting projects in operating facilities.
  • Ability and willingness to travel to offices, vendor facilities, and jobsites as needed.
