Job Description
The job involves leading and managing a survey practice within a consulting firm, overseeing technical quality, building client relationships, mentoring teams, and driving strategic growth and operational efficiency in land surveying projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic plans for the survey group to support growth, technical excellence, and client satisfaction.
- Leverage local relationships to strengthen the company's presence in the regional survey and land development community.
- Set quality standards and provide technical oversight to ensure accurate and consistent survey deliverables.
- Coach and mentor project managers, field crews, and office staff to develop technical and leadership skills.
- Represent the survey practice to clients and community through professional engagement and relationship building.
- Collaborate with engineering, planning, and environmental teams to deliver integrated solutions.
- Oversee budgets, schedules, invoicing, and profitability metrics for the survey group.
- Stay informed on emerging survey technologies and encourage team adoption of innovative methods.
- Attend professional events and engage with industry associations to promote the company's survey practice.
Requirements
- Professional Survey License in Delaware (preference for additional state license credentials)
- Extensive experience in land surveying with progressive leadership responsibilities
- Strong local relationships and a respected presence in the regional survey and land development community
- Proven ability to lead teams, manage operations, and deliver projects successfully
- Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset
- Technical expertise in survey principles, standards, and technologies
- Business acumen with a track record of contributing to growth and profitability
