The role involves designing and managing land development projects, including site layout, utility, roadway, and drainage design, as well as preparing permits, cost estimates, and supporting project proposals, while collaborating with clients and team members to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare engineer’s opinion of probable cost and design calculations
Develop conceptual site layouts, utility, roadway, and site grading designs
Conduct soil erosion, sedimentation control, and floodplain studies
Prepare permit applications and assist with project feasibility, master planning, and design of water, sanitary, storm sewer, paving, and detention facilities
Assist in proposal preparation, review project specifications, and produce final construction drawings
Mentor and delegate tasks to Staff Engineers, collaborate with multidisciplinary teams
Manage project schedules, budgets, and billing
Participate in business development and represent the firm at meetings and hearings
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification is required.
Minimum of 3 years of experience in land development or related engineering fields.
Passed Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam.
Strong understanding of local governmental public and private development codes.
Proficient in AutoCAD Civil 3D and Microsoft Office.
Valid driver’s license.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
Outstanding writing, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Must be fluent in the English language.
Physical ability to sit and talk or hear frequently, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl occasionally.
Ability to lift or move up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 25 pounds occasionally.
Ability to work outside in weather conditions occasionally.
