Job Description
This position involves performing design engineering tasks for government infrastructure projects, including transportation, water, wastewater, and stormwater systems, while collaborating with clients and team members to ensure project success.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform design engineering and related tasks for government infrastructure projects.
- Prepare reports, plans, specifications, construction schedules, and permits.
- Obtain and evaluate field data for proposed construction projects.
- Develop cost estimates and engineering design calculations.
- Assist with plan reviews for compliance with local ordinances.
- Maintain client relationships and assist with permit applications.
- Contribute to the preparation of proposals for engineering services.
- Mentor and delegate tasks to Staff Engineers.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams on projects.
- Participate in business development activities.
- Represent the firm professionally at client meetings and hearings.
- Assist with project budget management, billing, and accounts receivable.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- Registered professional engineer with five years of design experience in government capital projects, including transportation, water wastewater, and stormwater improvements
- Experience in performing professional engineering and design work for government clients
- Ability to prepare reports, plans, specifications, construction schedules, and permits for transportation, water wastewater, and stormwater infrastructure projects
- Ability to obtain and evaluate pertinent field data for proposed construction projects
- Ability to prepare engineer’s opinion of probable cost and engineering design calculations
- Experience assisting with development plan reviews for compliance with local ordinances
- Ability to prepare permit applications for capital projects
- Experience assisting in the preparation of proposals for engineering services
- Experience mentoring and assisting with training Staff Engineers
- Ability to delegate specific project assignments to Staff Engineers
- Ability to work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
- Ability to share responsibility for project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects
- Experience participating in business development activities
- Ability to professionally represent the firm at client meetings and hearings
- Willingness to perform other duties incidental to the work described herein
