Job Description
Supports residential, commercial, and industrial project design teams by performing technical tasks such as site layout, utility and roadway design, stormwater management, permitting, and construction support, while mentoring staff and ensuring project completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Support project design teams with technical tasks including site layout, utility, roadway, and stormwater design
- Prepare conceptual site analyses, grading plans, and site layout using specialized software
- Compute and prepare reports such as cost estimates, utility calculations, stormwater reports, and earthwork analyses
- Prepare permit applications and assist with project specifications and final construction drawings
- Mentor and assist in training staff engineers and interns
- Coordinate with clients and other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
- Assist with project scheduling and ensure timely project completion
- Participate in marketing, sales, and business development efforts
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in engineering from an accredited four-year college or university
- Engineering-in-Training or Registered Professional Engineer certification
- Valid driver s license
- Experience supporting residential, commercial, and industrial project design teams with technical tasks including conceptual site layout, utility design, roadway design, site grading design, storm drain design, storm water management design, water and sanitary sewer main design, soil erosion and sedimentation control design, floodplain studies, permitting, entitlement support, and construction support
- Proficiency in preparing conceptual grading analyses and site layout using SiteOps Software
- Proficiency in designing using AutoCAD Civil 3D
- Ability to prepare and compute due diligence site analysis reports, engineers opinion of probable costs, utility computations, detention retention computations, storm water reports, earthwork analysis
- Experience preparing permit applications for applicable municipal agencies
- Ability to assist with the preparation of project specifications and production of final construction drawings
- Ability to ensure timesheets are submitted on time
- Experience mentoring and assisting with training other Staff Engineers and Interns
- Ability to maintain good relationships with clients
- Ability to work closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects
- Ability to assist with project schedules and ensure timely completion of projects for self, team members, and subordinates
- Ability to keep supervisor informed of workload, project scope changes, or additional services
- Ability to provide an accurate accounting of time spent on projects with descriptions for each time entry on a weekly basis
- Willingness to participate in marketing, sales, and business development efforts when requested by supervisor
- Excellent oral and technical written communication skills
- Strong sense of urgency and self-initiative to meet client deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Availability to work nights and weekends to complete projects as necessary
- Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework
- Knowledge of industry-related software, specifically proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and Microsoft Office
- Physical ability to frequently sit and talk or hear, occasionally stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel objects, reach with hands and arms, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl
- Ability to frequently lift or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift or move up to 25 pounds
- Ability to perform specific vision tasks including close vision, distance vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus
- Willingness to work occasionally in outside weather conditions for extended periods

Compensation range: $64,000 - $74,000 USD
