Job Description

The Associate Director of Power Delivery at Atwell is responsible for leading and supporting power infrastructure projects, providing technical guidance, managing teams, fostering client relationships, and contributing to business growth within the electrical power delivery sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support power delivery projects including transmission, distribution, substations, protection and controls, and interconnection.
  • Provide technical guidance and oversight for engineering, design, project execution, and quality control activities.
  • Manage, mentor, and support project managers, engineers, designers, and technical staff.
  • Serve as a primary client contact to ensure effective communication and successful project delivery.
  • Assist in managing project scope, budget, schedule, staffing, and resources.
  • Support business development efforts by maintaining client relationships and pursuing new opportunities.
  • Contribute to team growth through recruiting, onboarding, mentorship, and technical development.
  • Help improve internal processes, standards, workflows, and delivery practices.
  • Participate in annual planning, including forecasting, staffing, and market growth initiatives.
  • Ensure consistency, quality, and technical excellence across project deliverables.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field
  • PE license preferred
  • 8 years of experience in Power Delivery, electric utility, consulting, or related power infrastructure work
  • Experience in one or more of the following areas: transmission, distribution, substations, protection and controls, power system studies, interconnection, or utility infrastructure
  • Proven experience managing projects, leading teams, and supporting client relationships
  • Ability to provide technical oversight while also supporting project management, staffing, and operational needs
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor junior staff and develop engineering or design talent
  • Strong understanding of engineering and design workflows for power delivery projects
  • Experience working with utility clients, renewable energy clients, developers, or large-scale infrastructure clients (preferred)
