Job Description

The Associate Director at Atwell, LLC is a leadership role focused on managing survey teams within the land development and renewable energy sectors, fostering business relationships, and driving strategic growth while ensuring operational excellence and team development.

Responsibilities

  • Establish business relationships with colleagues and clients
  • Manage business operations for the team per client guidelines
  • Assist staff with yearly targets and annual business planning
  • Define department objectives through collaboration
  • Create a business development strategy to expand client base
  • Maintain memberships with local organizations to enhance group reputation
  • Identify and win projects through established relationships with developers and contractors
  • Manage financial goals, including team utilization and profitability
  • Assist Project Managers with AR collections and project profitability
  • Conduct risk management and contract reviews
  • Ensure deadlines and commitments are fulfilled
  • Research and implement technology improvements
  • Lead and communicate effectively with team members
  • Manage staff recruitment and interview processes
  • Onboard new staff and create a culture of excellence
  • Communicate performance issues to HR and senior leadership
  • Emphasize health and safety standards within the organization

Requirements

  • Survey-focused Bachelor s Degree
  • Professional Survey License required or in process
  • 5 years of experience leading survey teams focused on Land Development or Renewable Energy
  • Establish business relationships, both with colleagues and clients
  • Manage business operations for your team per client guidelines
  • Foster current staff by assisting with yearly targets and annual business planning
  • Define department objectives through collaboration
  • Encourage strategic growth of the team by creating a business development strategy across your region
  • Maintain memberships with local residential and commercial organizations
  • Have established relationships with land developers, general contractors, and architects to identify and win projects
  • Manage financial goals of the group including team utilization, invoice ratio, multipliers, and profitability
  • Assist Project Managers with AR collections, effort vs contract value, project profitability, change order submission, and monthly invoicing
  • Risk management contract review, proposal review, and licensing review
  • Manage invoices for subcontractors as needed
  • Ensure deadlines and commitments are fulfilled
  • Create and maintain current company standards per client request
  • Research and implement technology improvements
  • Ensure operational excellence and a repeatable process for deliverables
  • Communicate with employees and lead from the front by example
  • Manage staff and leverage other teams to define the recruitment and interview process
  • Negotiate a full compensation package and be aware of market standards to stay competitive in the market
  • Maintain internal relationships and communicate often with Regional Vice President, Local Vice Presidents, and Directors
  • Onboard new staff and create a culture of excellence from day one
  • Communicate any performance issues to HR, Senior Leadership, and individuals for documentation and termination of employees once approved by HR
  • Responsible for Health and Safety, be aware of organizational standards, and communicate any potential issues with the Safety staff
