Job Description

An Engineering Technician at Astrodyne TDI supports the development and testing of EMI RF filters and Power Distribution Units by assembling prototypes, conducting tests, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble electrical systems, including Power Distribution Units and EMI RF filter prototypes, according to specifications
  • Install components, wiring, and hardware using schematics, drawings, and instructions
  • Perform soldering, crimping, and wiring of electrical assemblies
  • Collaborate with engineers to define and solve product development issues
  • Troubleshoot prototype EMI RF filters and PDUs to identify failure trends
  • Create and implement test plans for prototypes and conduct EMC baseline testing
  • Coordinate with external labs for compliance testing and prepare testing equipment
  • Generate test reports and document assembly processes and measurements
  • Assist in transferring final products from development to production

Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Experience with Electrical Engineering concepts and work with electronic test equipment such as Oscilloscope and Digital Multimeter (DMM)
  • Hands-on mechanical experience including crimping a variety of connectors and basic soldering of wires, connectors, and ideally PCB components
  • Ability to read and understand schematics and assembly drawings
  • Ability to identify and troubleshoot various electrical system topologies based on available information
  • Experience with torquing hardware and using various hand tools
