Job Description

The Director of Business Development at Ascend Analytics is responsible for driving sales and building client relationships within the renewable energy and financial sectors, promoting the company's energy analytics solutions and expanding its market presence locally and internationally.

Key Responsibilities

  • Drive sales and business development activities to promote Ascend's Market Intelligence services.
  • Identify and prospect for financial industry clients within the renewable energy space.
  • Manage sales funnel through forecasting, account resource allocation, and strategic planning.
  • Negotiate and close contracts for subscription services, valuation support, and additional offerings.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with key customers using CRM platforms.
  • Create presentation materials and proposals to communicate product value propositions.
  • Support strategic expansion into alternative products, including non-US markets and emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a relevant field.
  • Six to Eight years of business development and/or sales experience with a strong record of success, preferably in the financial or energy sectors.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to interpret complex analytic solutions into value propositions.
  • Ability to develop collateral materials that concisely translate the distinguishing factors of our services.
  • Interest in transacting on the leading edge of quantitative energy analysis.
  • Proven experience in commercial intelligence sales in the energy or commodities industries (preferred).
  • Ability to identify, prospect, and contact high-level decision makers in the financial sector and to cultivate those relationships (preferred).
  • Ability to coordinate and collaborate with business leads to maximize growth potential (preferred).
  • Strong academic performance (preferred).
  • Advanced degree could substitute for years of work experience (preferred).
  • Ability to prioritize and act independently within a rapidly growing, dynamic organization.
  • Based in Colorado and able to come to the Boulder office 3 days a week or willing to relocate (mandatory).
  • Willingness to work remotely for the right candidate (mandatory).

Benefits & Perks

Base salary range: $130,000 - $160,000
Total expected compensation (OTE): $200,000 - $220,000, including base and commission
