Job Description
The Solar and BESS Operations Engineer is responsible for ensuring the reliable and efficient operation of renewable energy assets, including solar and energy storage systems, by diagnosing technical issues, optimizing performance, and supporting maintenance and performance improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain reliability and performance of solar and BESS assets across the USA
- Identify and drive performance improvement opportunities through technical management
- Conduct technical optimization analyses of asset portfolios
- Develop and implement methods for detecting, reporting, and analyzing performance issues
- Remotely diagnose electrical faults and coordinate with field technicians for resolution
- Develop and support maintenance strategies to optimize asset performance
- Manage relationships with equipment manufacturers for warranty claims and technical support
- Coordinate testing and capacity verification during project handover
- Analyze equipment failure data and report on maintenance metrics
- Evaluate and improve software systems, processes, and procedures to support operational growth
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years of engineering experience in operations and maintenance of utility scale solar and BESS systems.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related discipline.
- Proficient in using CMMS system to create, manage, and track all work orders for corrective and preventive maintenance, and able to analyze equipment failure history and report on key maintenance metrics to inform operational strategy.
- Strong technical knowledge of power plant components, including inverters, trackers, transformers, and medium-voltage MV systems.
- Proven track record of working well within a team environment, taking ownership of processes and procedures.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, highly motivated and results oriented, process oriented with strong organizational and communication skills.
- Proficient in MS Office Productivity tools such as Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Power BI, Planner, and Lists.
