Job Description
The role involves leading the growth and strategic direction of ChuckData, a product within Amperity, focusing on business management, product development, community engagement, and go-to-market strategies to drive adoption and industry influence in data engineering and AI-driven customer data platforms.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and execute ChuckData's business strategy, vision, and P&L management.
- Define product strategy, ensure product meets data engineering needs, and translate community insights into product value.
- Develop and implement go-to-market strategies to drive adoption, engagement, and growth through partnerships and community initiatives.
- Build and lead a high-performing, cross-functional team, fostering a culture of experimentation and continuous learning.
- Establish industry presence and thought leadership through analyst relationships, conferences, and publications.
Requirements
- 15 years of progressive leadership experience across product, go-to-market, and general management roles.
- At least 5 years of managing managers and high-level performing individual contributors (ICs).
- Expertise in building and scaling product-led growth (PLG) businesses in developer tools, data platforms, or AI.
- Experience overseeing a P&L, business strategy, and end-to-end execution.
- Experience with data engineering and developer ecosystems.
- Familiarity with MarTech and AdTech landscapes is a bonus.
- Credibility with industry analysts and experience in building market narratives and thought leadership.
- Exceptional storytelling and communication skills, with influence across executives, engineers, and developer communities.
- Entrepreneurial builder mindset that excels in ambiguity, embraces risk, and converts setbacks into momentum.
- Experience building high-performing teams and fostering a culture of experimentation and bold bets.
- Hands-on operator who excels in a coach-player role.
- Ability to define and own business strategy, vision, and P&L accountability for ChuckData.
- Ability to guide product strategy in partnership with engineering and product management teams, ensuring product meets the needs of data engineers across AWS, Azure, and GCP, and integrates with Amperity CDC and broader ecosystem.
- Ability to cultivate and amplify community presence, building trust, advocacy, and developer-first adoption.
- Experience translating community insights and market feedback into differentiated product value.
- Ability to define and own go-to-market strategy across PLG, community, and partnerships, including driving adoption and engagement through scalable growth initiatives.
- Experience building relationships with key partners such as Databricks, Snowflake, system integrators, and cloud platforms to expand distribution and credibility.
- Ability to establish and track growth KPIs including user acquisition, retention, engagement quality, share of answer, and revenue impact.
- Ability to develop industry relationships with analysts, influencers, and experts, and position ChuckData as a category shaper through analyst briefings, research contributions, and participation in industry evaluations.
- Experience representing the company as a thought leader in data engineering ecosystems via conferences, publications, podcasts, and community forums.
- Proven ability to recruit, lead, and inspire a cross-functional team including product, engineering, DevRel, and GTM functions.
- Ability to foster a culture of bold experimentation, rapid iteration, and continuous learning and adaptation.
- Strong influence and communication skills to be the visible face of ChuckData with external stakeholders, including developer forums, industry events, analyst briefings, and investor updates.
- Location in Seattle, WA, with the ability to work in a hybrid model including three days in the office each week.
