Key Responsibilities
The Project Risk Manager owns the risk-management process end-to-end – maintaining the risk register, running probabilistic cost and schedule modeling, and sizing and tracking contingency. Reporting to the Manager of Project Controls, the role ensures risks are identified, quantified, owned, and mitigated, and that contingency reflects a defensible view of exposure. The Project Risk Manager has ownership of the project risk methodology and tools and is accountable for the overall quality of the project's quantitative risk analysis.
Lead the project risk management process for West Alton, including maintaining the risk register, facilitating regular risk reviews, assigning risk ownership, tracking mitigation actions, and ensuring risks are identified, assessed, quantified, and managed throughout the project lifecycle.
Provide technical leadership and subject matter expertise in quantitative cost and schedule risk analysis, including probabilistic modeling, Monte Carlo analysis, contingency methodologies, and risk-adjusted forecasting.
Manage project contingency by sizing, allocating, tracking drawdown, and validating assumptions against the current risk profile, project changes, and input from internal subject matter experts.
Partner with Project Controls, Cost Engineering, Planning/Scheduling, the Project Manager, Project Director, Engineer of Record, and constructor counterparts to ensure risk, cost, schedule, and contingency data remain aligned and are reflected in project reporting.
Develop and deliver risk reporting, dashboards, and recommendations for project leadership and governance groups, including clear triggers for action and visibility into top risks, contingency exposure, and mitigation progress.
Lead, mentor, and provide technical direction to risk and controls analysts, including prioritizing work, evaluating technical proficiency, and recommending development opportunities to department leadership.
Identify and implement process improvements, lessons learned, standards updates, and governance practices that strengthen risk management, cost/risk tracking, reporting accuracy, and compliance with Ameren and regulatory requirements.
