Job Description
A Senior Software Engineer at Alarm.com will develop and lead full-stack software projects related to HVAC home automation and security, working across diverse technologies and collaborating with cross-functional teams to create innovative IoT and SaaS solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and lead full-stack software for various platforms and technologies.
- Participate in the entire project lifecycle from requirements to deployment.
- Collaborate across teams to evaluate and apply new technologies and methodologies.
- Design, develop, and maintain backend services, websites, and databases.
- Integrate diverse devices and third-party platforms into the ecosystem.
- Mentor and lead other engineers to project completion.
- Engage in research and evaluation of high-availability, high-throughput services and microservices architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, a related field or equivalent work experience
- At least 5 years of professional software development experience
- Experience leading projects to completion and mentoring other engineers
- Strong object-oriented programming skills
- Experience with database design and development
- Experience working with high-availability, high-throughput services
- Experience working in an enterprise-scale microservices architecture
- Experience with external facing APIs and or third-party platform integrations
- Familiarity with distributed event streaming platforms, such as Kafka
- Experience with JavaScript development using an established JS framework, such as Ember, React, or Angular
- Ability to communicate well within a team environment and work independently on self-directed tasks
- Strong multi-tasking skills and the ability to self-learn
- Ability to exercise good judgment, knowing when to work quickly and when to build a robust solution

Compensation/salary range: $145,000 - $155,000 USD
