Job Description
The Sales Engineer at OpenEye will serve as a primary technical contact for customers in the Utah and Colorado region, focusing on product details, system design, training, and project deployment. This role combines technical expertise with sales support, requiring the ability to communicate complex product specifications and provide solutions to customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and deliver sales and project-specific presentations.
- Assess equipment needs and determine system requirements.
- Develop and present training courses for internal and external customers.
- Provide customer feedback to product management and engineering.
- Prepare cost estimates and site configurations.
- Analyze cost-benefit ratios of equipment and software applications.
- Identify strategies to address marketplace and technology changes.
- Investigate customer and product issues and recommend solutions.
- Create technical content for marketing campaigns and website.
- Approve tradeshow equipment configuration and assist with setup.
- Create and maintain pre-sales engineering documentation.
- Support project installations remotely or on site.
- Provide post-visit summaries and enter information in CRM.
- Communicate troubleshooting discoveries to support department.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent industry experience
- Minimum 5 years of engineering Technical Support experience, preferably in a technology discipline
- 3 years Business to Business support experience
- Ability to travel 50-75% including overnight, including some weekends and occasionally on short notice
- Proficient with Microsoft Office core products: Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint
- Candidates must reside in Colorado or Utah
