Job Description
A Quality Engineer at Alarm.com for Business is responsible for validating hardware, software, and back-end systems related to property management, ensuring products meet quality standards through end-to-end testing, collaboration with development teams, and continuous improvement efforts.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute test plans, document defects, and provide test reports
- Set up and maintain test environments for successful testing
- Coordinate testing efforts across multiple teams
- Triaging problems, prioritizing issues, and proposing resolutions
- Applying testing methodologies, engineering, and product knowledge for product certification and deployments
- Ensuring product performance, usability, and quality from conceptualization to post-launch
Requirements
- A college degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a relevant discipline.
- Ability to develop test plans, document appropriate defects, and provide relevant data for test reporting.
- Ability to triage problems, prioritize accordingly, and propose a resolution.
- Ability to work independently, raise issues, and take corrective action.
- Experience setting up and maintaining test environments for success.
- Experience applying test methodology, engineering, and product knowledge in certification of products and weekly deployments.
- Experience coordinating test efforts across multiple teams.
- Attention to detail and ability to provide clear, informative test steps.
- Excellent problem solving, troubleshooting, time management, and analysis skills.
- Self-motivated with strong technical and communication skills, and a deep interest in product quality.
- Team-focused, with a proven track record of thriving in a collaborative environment.
