Job Description

The Atlassian Applications Engineer Systems Engineer will be responsible for administering and enhancing the Atlassian environment, developing custom scripts, and managing CI/CD pipelines to optimize workflows and support development teams. This role involves collaboration in Agile methodologies and requires expertise in scripting, database management, and both Linux and Windows environments.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure smooth operation and continuous improvement of custom-built addons and plugins.
  • Administer, enhance, and optimize Atlassian tools Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo and SQL databases.
  • Develop and maintain custom scripts using Adaptavist ScriptRunner and Groovy.
  • Design, implement, and manage CI CD pipelines for efficient software delivery.
  • Provide technical support and solutions to development teams.
  • Collaborate with the Atlassian Change Committee on system changes and assist in user training.
  • Participate in Agile Scrum or Kanban ceremonies and create Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop IT Asset Management using Assets formerly known as Insights.
  • Install, update, and maintain Atlassian services in Linux and Windows environments.
  • Document developed scripts, workflows, and processes.
  • Resolve issues with Jira Projects and Confluence in coordination with project leads.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 2 to 5 years of hands-on experience with Atlassian products such as Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, and Bamboo.
  • Solid understanding of Agile Scrum and Kanban methodologies, with practical experience in their application.
  • Proficiency in Git and experience in designing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines.
  • Demonstrated experience managing and utilizing Atlassian plugins like ScriptRunner, Structure, Advanced Roadmaps, and Zephyr Squad Scale.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages such as Groovy (ScriptRunner), Bash, and PowerShell.
  • Experience working with Linux and Windows servers, as well as databases like MS SQL, PostgreSQL, and MySQL.
  • Proven expertise with REST APIs and integration development.
  • Hands-on experience with the installation, upgrades, integration, and support of Atlassian server and datacenter products.
  • Strong understanding of security best practices and risk management in IT environments.
  • Knowledge of systems engineering protocols such as DNS and DHCP.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts effectively to non-technical stakeholders.
