Job Description

The Data Analyst at Alarm.com is responsible for developing and automating business reports, analyzing data from various sources, and providing insights to support strategic decision-making across multiple functions within a fast-paced, innovative environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and automate reports to meet business intelligence and analytical needs
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish relevant business metrics
  • Gather requirements and work with product and engineering teams to deliver business metrics
  • Interpret business data and generate ongoing reports
  • Provide data-driven analysis to support key business decisions
  • Review data science models and convert them into reports for analysis
  • Communicate findings to all levels of the organization
  • Train stakeholders in utilizing reporting tools and analyzing results
  • Set standards for data management and identify projects to address data gaps

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (BA or BS) in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or a relevant technical field; advanced degrees are preferred.
  • At least 3 years of experience with using SQL for data analysis.
  • At least 2 years of experience developing MicroStrategy reports and dashboards, and with the MicroStrategy architecture.
  • Demonstrated success when working cross-functionally and the ability to translate technical content to a general audience.
  • Understanding of Data Management and the data lifecycle.
  • Excellent written, oral communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and tools, and flexibility to accept a wide range of responsibilities in an innovative and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter that can operate under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
