Job Description

The Senior Legal Associate will support Akaysha's global renewable energy projects by managing legal, regulatory, and contractual aspects across project development, construction, and operation phases, ensuring compliance and strategic alignment for large-scale battery storage solutions.

Key Responsibilities

Lead legal and strategic support for key FID-stage projects, including negotiation of project agreements such as offtake, connection, equipment supply, land, and finance documents.
Manage stakeholder relationships and coordinate legal workflows to ensure timely legal inputs aligned with project milestones.
Structure and negotiate complex project and finance agreements, balancing legal risks with commercial and strategic objectives.
Support project financing by reviewing and negotiating tripartite agreements and finance instruments, and providing legal due diligence.
Ensure legal compliance by managing approvals and budgets in line with governance frameworks and external regulations.
Identify, allocate, and mitigate legal risks across all project phases from development to operations.
Interpret and apply complex regulatory frameworks to project structures, operational decisions, and compliance strategies across jurisdictions.
Embed legal governance frameworks into project and corporate workflows to ensure internal and external compliance.

Requirements

Experience in structuring complex project and finance agreements such as EPC, OEM, offtake, and tripartite agreements that balance legal risk, commercial outcomes, and strategic goals.
Ability to identify, allocate, and mitigate legal risks across all phases of a project from development through to operations.
Experience in executing legal components of project finance transactions, including lender negotiations, due diligence, and alignment of finance instruments with project documentation.
Proficiency in interpreting complex regulatory frameworks and applying them to project structures, operational decisions, and compliance strategies across multiple jurisdictions.
Experience in embedding legal governance frameworks into project and corporate workflows, ensuring alignment with internal approvals and external obligations.
Strong technical expertise in providing legal advice across development, construction, and operations phases of projects.
Ability to lead and negotiate high-value project and finance agreements for BESS projects through to execution, ensuring alignment with company risk appetite and strategic objectives.
Experience in supporting project financing by reviewing and negotiating tripartite agreements and finance instruments, and providing legal input on due diligence and lender requests.
Experience in managing legal approvals and budgets in line with governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulations throughout project delivery.
Ability to coordinate stakeholder relationships and legal workflows to support key project milestones, ensuring timely and aligned legal inputs.
Strong understanding of legal, risk, and compliance support across the asset lifecycle from design and build through to ownership and operation.
Educational background or professional experience in law, with demonstrated ability to provide strategic legal support in a corporate and project context.
