Job Description
A Process Engineer at AIRCO is responsible for designing, implementing, and optimizing chemical processes and pilot plant operations focused on carbon conversion technology, ensuring safety, efficiency, and quality while supporting technology development and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and optimize chemical processes and pilot plant systems
- Assist with the commissioning, installation, and testing of new pilot plants and lab reactors
- Troubleshoot and develop modifications for existing pilot plants to improve efficiency and quality
- Collaborate with R&D teams on process design and scale-up activities
- Develop and maintain operational and maintenance procedures, including safety protocols
- Monitor equipment performance using data acquisition systems and diagnose failures to minimize downtime
- Work with maintenance teams to facilitate repairs and develop maintenance KPIs
Requirements
- 8 years of experience in designing and or maintaining pilot plants for chemical, petrochemical, or renewable processes.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, or equivalent sciences.
- Expertise in pilot plant process and equipment design and down-selection of equipment within the cost constraints.
- Strong maintenance focused mindset along with demonstrated experience in maintenance, upkeep, and operation of chemical plants or equipment.
- Very familiar with equipment such as compressors, liquid pumps, mass flow controllers, flow meters, temperature, and pressure controllers, etc. for pilot plant usage.
- Ability to climb ladders and fit into tight spaces as part of mobility and physical strength requirements.
- Ability to lift at least 50 pounds.
- Ability to work collaboratively, proactively, and independently.
- Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
- A team player with a strong passion for fostering a safe collaborative work environment.
- Ability to obtain and maintain appropriate government authorization to access technology or information, including security clearance, export license, or other documentation as required by government access control restrictions.
