Job Description

The Principal Engineer, Process Design at AIR COMPANY will lead the development of process design packages for new carbon conversion technologies, focusing on process simulation, equipment selection, and compliance with engineering standards. This role involves collaboration with scientists and engineers to ensure effective design and implementation of sustainable solutions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the development of Process Design Package (PDP) for EPC FEED and detailed engineering design.
  • Conduct process synthesis, simulation, and design, including material heat balance and equipment selection.
  • Generate PFDs, P&IDs, equipment datasheets, and perform process hydraulics calculations.
  • Serve as a leading process engineer in HAZOP reviews.
  • Act as a liaison with EPCs and customers for FEED and detailed design activities.
  • Perform data analysis and present findings and recommendations.
  • Ensure compliance with engineering design standards and environmental, health, and safety regulations.
  • Participate in new technology development reviews in R&D.
  • Attend customer meetings to present engineering solutions and design packages.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemical or Petroleum Engineering
  • 15 years of industrial working experience as a process design engineer within petroleum refining, petrochemical, chemical, or renewable energy industries
  • Expertise in industry-standard process simulation modeling software (e.g., Aspen Plus, HYSYS)
  • Expertise in generating commercial scale PFDs and P IDs and familiarity with industrial standards (e.g., ISO, ISA, DIN, PIP, ANSI)
  • Familiarity with yield estimates development, phases of FEL studies and FEED studies
  • Work experience with the detailed design, development and down selection of equipment
  • Work experience with process economics
  • Work experience with EPC companies or in EPC companies
  • Strong knowledge and commitment to personal and process safety protocols
  • Ability to work collaboratively, proactively and independently
  • Team player with a strong passion for fostering a safe collaborative work environment
  • Licensed Professional Engineer (P.E.) credentials (bonus point)
  • Work experience as a process engineer within a technology development or EPC company (bonus point)
  • Operational experience of large scale production plants (bonus point)
